Lost Art: A Sonata of Three Lives

Lost Art: A Sonata of Three Lives

(Performance time: 1 hour, 35 minutes)

This play follows the journeys of three musicians as they each deal with the loss of their respective musical talents.  Although they live in different places and times, their experiences follow similar paths as they endeavor to find meaning in their lives without their musical talents.  Bernard Kowalski, a violinist who is imprisoned at Auschwitz during the Holocaust, struggles with the loss of his violin in the concentration camp.  Marion Ashley, a pianist, loses her playing ability to multiple sclerosis.  Jack Stallings, a trumpet player, is robbed of his playing ability by a rare eye disease.  Each of the musicians finds new meaning in life and even redemption through loss.
